Kombucha tea has grown in popularity due to the intriguing flavor and the known probiotics (good bacteria) contained in each bottle. Kombucha tea is made from black tea (or green tea) and sugar. When you let the tea ferment, it forms a layer of "good" bacteria on it's surface. The longer you let the tea ferment, the more vinegar-like the Kombucha tastes. Like fermented fruit, Kombucha can contain alcohol. There has been no research proving that Kombucha provides any health benefits but many Kombucha drinkers claim that it aids in their overall health. Regardless of the research and personal claims... if you enjoy it, drink it.
