When it comes to sweets, I always feel guilty for indulging in high sugary treats that have no nutritional value. Orange zest walnuts are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin C. This delicious treat will have you eating walnuts daily.
- Oranges (for 2 tbsp. orange zest or desired amount)
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 3 cups walnuts
- Boil 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/2 cup orange juice until thermometer reaches 234 degrees F.
- Take off stove and add 2 tbsp. of orange zest and 3 cups walnuts. Stir until mixture looks cloudy.
- When mixture begins to sugar, put walnuts onto wax paper. Let harden.
