Savory Snack: Trail Mix

IMG_3375 I have been guilty of poor snacking choices such as chips and cookies throughout the day. As a busy college student, I sometimes find it difficult to eat three meals a day so I find myself relying on snacks to keep my energy up. One of the best snacking choices I have found is trail mix. It is lightweight, easy to store and can be customized to your favorite tastes, whether you like salty, sweet, crunchy or a combination of all, you can add what you love. I always include nuts for good protein and fat, unsweetened cereal for crunch, dried fruits for vitamins and fiber, and a bit of chocolate for good taste.

1 cup Walnuts

1 cup Peanuts

1/2 cup Mini Peanut Butter Cups

1 cup Cheerios

1/2 cup raisins

1 cup Almonds

1/4 cup dark chocolate M&Ms

1. Place walnuts, peanuts, almonds, mini peanut butter cups, cheerios, M&Ms, and raisins in large bowl and mix well.

2. Use 1/2 cup measure to portion bags of trail mix.

3. Store in fridge or at room temperature. Enjoy!
